Leviticus 22

1And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they keep themselves from the holy things of the sons of Israel, and not profane my holy name, which they sanctify for me. I am Yahweh.

3Say to them, throughout your generations: Any man from any of your offspring who comes near the holy things that the sons of Israel consecrate to Yahweh while his uncleanness is on him—that person shall be cut off from before me. I am Yahweh.

4Any man from the offspring of Aaron, if he is afflicted with a skin disease or has a discharge, shall not eat from the holy things until he becomes clean. And whoever touches anything unclean by a dead person, or a man from whom an emission of semen comes out,

5or a man who touches any swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, or a person by whom he becomes unclean, whatever his uncleanness.

6The person who touches it shall be unclean until the evening, and shall not eat any of the holy things unless he has washed his body with water.

7When the sun has set, he will be clean; and afterward he may eat from the holy things, because they are his food.

8He shall not eat an animal found dead or torn by beasts, making himself unclean by it. I am Yahweh.

9They shall keep my charge, so that they do not bear sin because of it and die by it when they profane it. I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.

10No outsider may eat the holy thing; a sojourner of a priest or a hired worker may not eat the holy thing.

11But if a priest buys a person as his property with his money, he may eat of it, and those born in his house may eat of his food.

12But if a priest’s daughter becomes the wife of an outsider, she shall not eat from the contribution of the holy things.

13But if a priest’s daughter becomes a widow or divorced, and has no offspring, and returns to her father’s house as in her youth, she may eat from her father’s food; but no outsider may eat of it.

14And if a man eats a holy thing unintentionally, then he shall add a fifth to it and give the holy thing to the priest.

15They shall not profane the holy things of the sons of Israel, which they lift up to Yahweh.

16and so cause them to bear guilt requiring restitution by eating their holy things, for I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.

17And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

18Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them: Any man from the house of Israel, or from the sojourners in Israel, who presents his offering for any of their vows or any of their freewill offerings, which they present to Yahweh as a burnt offering—

19for your acceptance, it must be a sound male from the cattle, the sheep, or the goats.

20You shall not present anything that has a blemish, for it will not be accepted for you.

21And if a man presents a sacrifice of peace offerings to Yahweh, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, from the herd or from the flock, it shall be without blemish to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.

22Anything blind, broken, mutilated, or with a wart, scab, or skin disease, these you shall not present to Yahweh; and you shall not place any of them on the altar as a food offering to Yahweh.

23But an ox or a sheep that has a limb too long or too short—you may make it a freewill offering, but for a vow it will not be accepted.

24You shall not present to Yahweh anything with bruised, crushed, torn, or cut testicles, and in your land you shall not do this.

25And from the hand of a foreigner you shall not present any of these as the food of your God, because their corruption is in them; a defect is in them. They shall not be accepted for you.

26And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

27When an ox or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall remain seven days under its mother, and from the eighth day onward it shall be accepted as a food offering to Yahweh.

28Whether an ox or a sheep, you shall not slaughter it and its young on one day.

29And when you sacrifice a thank offering to Yahweh, you shall sacrifice it for your acceptance.

30It shall be eaten on that same day; you shall leave none of it until morning. I am Yahweh.

31So you shall keep my commandments and do them; I am Yahweh.

32And you shall not profane my holy name, and I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel. I am Yahweh, who sanctifies you.

33who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am Yahweh.
