Leviticus 5

1If a person sins because he hears a public adjuration and he is a witness—whether he has seen or otherwise knows—and he does not report it, then he shall bear his guilt.

2Or if a person touches any unclean thing—whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of unclean livestock, or the carcass of an unclean swarming creature—and it is hidden from him, and he is unclean and becomes guilty,

3Or if he touches human uncleanness—any uncleanness by which one becomes unclean—and it is hidden from him, and then he comes to know it, he is guilty.

4Or if a person swears rashly with his lips to do evil or to do good—whatever a man may utter in an oath—and it is hidden from him, and then he comes to know it and becomes guilty in one of these matters,

5And it shall be, when he becomes guilty in one of these matters, that he shall confess what he has sinned in regard to it.

6and he shall bring his guilt offering to Yahweh for his sin that he has committed: a female from the flock, a lamb or a female goat, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin.

7But if his means do not suffice for a sheep, then he shall bring as his guilt offering for the sin that he committed two turtledoves or two young pigeons to Yahweh, one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering.

8And he shall bring them to the priest, and he shall present first the one for the sin offering, and he shall pinch off its head from the front of its neck, but he shall not sever it.

9And he shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be drained out at the base of the altar; it is a sin offering.

10And he shall prepare the second as a burnt offering according to the ordinance, and the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin that he committed, and he shall be forgiven.

11But if his means are not sufficient for two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he shall bring as his offering for the sin that he has committed a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it and place no frankincense on it, because it is a sin offering.

12Then he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take from it a handful as its memorial portion and burn it on the altar, in addition to the food offerings of Yahweh. It is a sin offering.

13Thus the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin that he committed in any one of these matters, and he shall be forgiven. And it shall belong to the priest, like the grain offering.

14And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

15If a person acts unfaithfully and sins unintentionally in regard to the holy things of Yahweh, he shall bring his compensation offering to Yahweh: an unblemished ram from the flock, according to your valuation in silver shekels, by the sanctuary shekel, for a guilt offering.

16He shall make restitution for what he sinned against from the holy thing, and he shall add a fifth to it and give it to the priest. Then the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven.

17And if a person sins and does any one of all the things that by Yahweh’s commandments must not be done, though he did not know it, then he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.

18He shall bring to the priest a ram without blemish from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning the error that he committed unintentionally, though he did not know it, and he shall be forgiven.

19It is a guilt offering; he has indeed incurred guilt against Yahweh.

20And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

21If a person sins and commits a breach of faith against Yahweh by deceiving his neighbor about a security entrusted to him, or a pledge, or through robbery, or if he has oppressed his neighbor,

22or he finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely—about any one of all the things that a man may do to sin by them—

23And it shall be, when he sins and becomes guilty, that he shall restore what he took by robbery, or what he extorted, or the deposit that was entrusted to him, or the lost thing that he found,

24or anything about which he swore falsely—he shall repay it in full, and shall add a fifth to it. He shall give it to the one to whom it belongs on the day of his guilt offering.

25And he shall bring his guilt offering to Yahweh: a flawless ram from the flock, according to your valuation, as a guilt offering, to the priest.

26And the priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh, and he will be forgiven for any one of all the things by which one may incur guilt.
